I believe that every person is capable of growth and healing. The therapeutic process is much like fine tuning a radio. Our work is to lessen the static until core needs and emotions are clear enough to hear. As a therapist, I am a visitor in the overall journey of your healing. As such, I can provide a non-judgmental, compassionate, and caring environment for you to come into deeper relationship with yourself. Ultimately, I believe we are all equipped to be our own best healers. Therapy is a place to uncover this deep inner potential, as well as to grieve, to question, to explore, and ultimately to grow.
My approach is rooted in Gestalt therapy. I also use mindfulness and somatic- based techniques to access the experience of the body and nervous system. My approach to counseling has been shaped by a social justice lens with the incorporation of liberation-based healing practices.
As a queer and trans identified therapist, I am particularly drawn to working within the LGBTQIA community. Part of my process as a practitioner is recalibrating therapeutic modalities to suit the needs of queer and gender non-conforming individuals. This is particularly the case with body-centered approaches. Ultimately, I believe the therapeutic process to be most effective when both the client and counselor are authentic, honest, and equally committed to the process.
